Day +8 BMT

The hemodialysis is completed in the early morning. About 2 liters of fluid was removed from her body. The serum creatinine and blood urea were decreased to 170 umol/L and 24 mmol/L, respectively  due to the effect of dialysis. Her urine output over the last 24 hour was slightly more than 1000 ml. Her serum bilirubin was also decreased to 150 umol/L, slightly better than yesterday.

In the afternoon, she underwent hemofiltration (similar to hemodialysis, but makes use of different principle) for 3 hours to remove water and dissolved substances (waste). The total of 3.6 liters of water was removed.  Her body became less swollen. But, there are still lot of water in the chest  (pleural effusion) and abdominal (ascites) cavities that make her breathless and lethargy.

She is drowsy because of syrup morphine that was given to reduce her back pain. In the evening, she started to have mental confusion (uremic symptom).
